Bulk Containers...

Characteristics
These containers are designed for the carriage of dry powders and granular substances in bulk. To facilitate top loading, three circular hatches (500mm diameter) are fitted in the roof. For discharge, a hatch is fitted in the right-hand door of the container. Full width doors are fitted to allow loading of conventional cargo. Constructed of steel framework with steel cladding, these containers are equipped with mild steel floors to enable ease of cleaning. Lashing points are fitted at the base of the sidewall, five each side with SWL of 2023kg each and several light lashing points are sited at the top of the container along the top side rails to enable the securing of polythene liners (if required).

It should be noted that after filling (and discharging) it is essential that all cargo debris should be cleared away from all the hatchesto ensure they close properly.
Gross Weights
As these containers are generally required to be delivered to the consignee on tipping trailers the payload may have to be marginally reduced to take account of this and to conform to road regulations applicable in the country concerned. Should you require details of the maximum allowable weight please contact your local P&O Containers Office or Agent
Note
Many bulk cargoes are carried in temporarily modified General Purpose Containers. Your local P&O Containers office will be pleased to supply further information.
