Flat Rack Containers...

Characteristics
These containers are designed to facilitate the carriage of cargo in excess of the dimensions available in either General Purpose or Open Top containers.

They consist of a flat bed with dixed ends, the external dimensions conforming in all respects to the ISO (International Standards Organisation) requirements.

Suitable lashing points are fitted to the floor and/or the side rails of the container, (each with a Safe Working Load of 2023 kg) with in some cases 4 corner rings (5080 kg SWL). It should be noted that no tarpaulin cover is supplied, therefore cargo should be suitably weather protected. There are 20' and 40' versions of this container type.

Uncontainerable Cargo
A combination of 2 or more Flat Rack containers can be used to form a temporary 'tween' deck space for uncontainerable cargo moved on a 'port to port' basis, provided the total weight and point loading of the cargo does not exceed the static capabilities of the Flat Racks.

Shippers who require to ship cargo which may be considered to be uncontainerable either due to size or weight or both should contact their local P&O Containers Office or Agent.
