Open Sided Containers...

Characteristics
This type of container is designed to accommodate the carriage of certain special commodities, e.g. plywood from the Far East, and certain perishable commoditites.

The steel containers have a fixed roof, open sides and end opening doors, the sides being 'closed' by full height gates in 1.37m wide sections, and nylon reinforced PVC curtains (the curtains may be rolled up to the top side rail when not in use) which meet TIR requirements.

There are eight lashing points each side affixed to the bottom rail (outside) below floor level, nine rings located in the floor (SWL 2032kg) and five rings vertically up each corner post.
Note
1. If side gates are not used they must be stowed inside the container at the closed end.
2. Side gates are not designed to the full ISO transverse load required, i.e. 0.49P as
opposed to 0.6P.
